MasterCard Destinations Index declares vibrant Jo’burg the most popular destination in Africa.
The MasterCard Index of Global Destination Cities ranks cities in terms of the number of their total international visitor arrivals and the cross-border spending by these same visitors in the destination cities. It also gives visitor and passenger growth forecasts for 2013.
Johannesburg’s substantial growth in international visitors from 2009 to 2013 has propelled it into the Index’s top 20 fastest growing cities globally. Johannesburg also comes out tops in Africa in terms of international visitor spending — No surprise given the this bustling African cities’ entertainment, food and activity menu.
