Sponsored by the Black Alumni Network
October 13 – October 26, 2027
Dear University of Rochester Alumni, Family, and Friends,
Some journeys teach you facts. This one has the power to change how you see the world.
In partnership with the Black Alumni Network, we are thrilled to invite you to an extraordinary journey through Southern Africa, led by Vice Provost for Global Engagement Reitu Mabokela. Designed especially for University of Rochester alumni, family, and friends, this thoughtfully curated program offers cultural discovery, meaningful learning, and unforgettable moments of connection.
This is an invitation to travel with purpose. From the vibrant energy of Johannesburg and Soweto to conversations about apartheid, reconciliation, and social transformation, this journey offers meaningful opportunities to reflect on South Africa’s history and its enduring global significance. Through exclusive academic conversations arranged by Professor Mabokela, you will gain rare insight into the leaders, educators, and changemakers shaping Southern Africa today.
Beyond the classroom and conversations, Southern Africa’s beauty will take your breath away. Stand in the mist at Victoria Falls. Savor an afternoon in the Cape Winelands. Watch elephants move across the Greater Kruger at golden hour. This is where history and humanity meet natural wonder – and you will understand why this remarkable region leaves such a lasting impression.
This is more than a trip. It’s a chance to learn alongside fellow URochester community members, see the world through a broader lens, and experience Southern Africa in a way few travelers ever do.
Space is limited. Reserve your place today.
